I worked for a high profile banker with a 6 bedroom house in Notting Hill and a 10 bedroom country estate in West Sussex with 126 acres.
My duties included ensuring that the principal arrived at his office on time each day, that the children were taken to school and pick up in the afternoon, driving extensively around London and the home counties, early morning airport runs, inventory and care of wardrobe when travelling, packing and unpacking of clothes, meeting and greeting of VIP guests, valeting and maintenance of three luxury cars and provision of security, maintaining the high standard of staff training, household accounts, banking and general shopping. I also carried out monthly assessments of three staff members. I oversaw fire and security arrangements, worked closely with the personal assistant to maintain a happy work environment. I worked as the house manager and butler for a high profile family with multiple homes across Europe. I was responsible for the overseeing of the redevelopment of their country estate in Hampshire, Berrydown Court designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. I dealt with architects, builders, contractors and interior designers to ensure that the redevelopment project was kept on track and that orders and deliveries of interior furnishings were processed smoothly. I was based at the 8 bedroom house in Kensington West London which was staffed by up to 8 employees.
